Ellie Matthew – August 2024
We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with the Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) to launch an exciting new programme: the funding of five post-graduate scholarships.
Introducing our first batch of scholars: Putuh Suadela, Muhammad Anas, Trian Yunanda, R. Tono Amboro and Aris Budiarto. The aim of this programme is to advance the scholars’ skills and expertise in sustainable fisheries management. The scholars are fisheries managers from the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries of Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries – Republic of Indonesia, and their research will be pursued in Marine Fisheries Technology at IPB University.
Their research will be exploring the Indonesian fisheries as well as regional fisheries in the wider Indian Ocean area. The hope is that their endeavours will address overfishing in the region to protect stocks for the benefit of many coastal states, Indonesia included.
We are incredibly excited about this new programme and know it will have great benefits for both the students, on their academic journeys, but also the fisheries, contributing significantly to sustainable management.
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels as we will be introducing these scholars and their research questions soon.
