SFACT Annual Impact Report 2025: Reaching More, Doing Better

Ahmad Husein – April 2026

Sustainable Fisheries and Community Trust (SFACT) is excited to share the 2025 Annual Impact Report. This release comes during a critical time in the third year of our five-year strategy and continues to show growth in both impact and reach.

“2025 was undeniably a busy and fruitful year for SFACT as the organisation continues to support small-scale fishing communities across the Indian Ocean. We welcomed a new trustee and new student scholarships, and ongoing and completed projects to celebrate.” John Burton, SFACT founding trustee reflects.

Major milestones for 2025 that have been accomplished including:

  • Improved reporting and partner performance has helped SFACT on progressing on our strategy targets goals. See page 10
  • The launch of a new three-year partnership with The Seafarers’ Charity through the International Fund for Fishing Safety (IFFS) aimed at global fishing industry fatality reduction. See page 12
  • The success of Community Catch’s launch year as an innovative, community-driven solutions for global small-scale fisheries. SFACT has been one of the leading funders of Community Catch. See page 13-14
  • During the Sea At Risk Annual General Meeting 2025, SFACT was awarded the Members’ Highlight Award. See page 15

SFACT will keep building strategic partnerships, diversifying funding, and expanding our impact in the Indian Ocean region to promote a sustainable and equitable future for coastal communities and marine ecosystems.
