
Editrudith, a trained marine biologist who has successfully transitioned into an interdisciplinary social scientist, brings over 20 years of experience employing innovative solutions and sustainable practices for inclusive, natural resources, governance and sustainable food systems, specifically focussing on small-scale fisheries.
Editrudith’s unwavering commitment to developing the small-scale fisheries sector has not gone unnoticed. She is a member of the IPC Fisheries Working Group and currently heads the Secretariat of the African Women Fish-Workers Network. She is the co-founder of EMEDO, a non-profit organisation that work with and for communities to address environmental, economic and social challenges aimed at securing a prosperous and sustainable future for aquatic resources and communities.
Her commitment to small-scale fisheries governance is further demonstrated by the her current pursuit of a PhD at Brock University in Canada. She is interested in the implementation of the voluntary guidelines for securing sustainable small-scale fisheries within the context of food security and poverty elimination.
